On these trucks we are having some customers have problems fueling the trucks. We tried all the regular solutions- spiders in the vent line, a bad hose for the canister filter, looking for fuel soaked carbon, etc. We noticed a small protruding tube on the filler neck and suspected there might be an issue with air not being able to escape from the vent line fast enough to keep fuel from backing up the filler into the pump bellows, shutting off the fuel filler. We removed a customer’s fuel filler neck and shaved the protrusion off with a pencil grinder and now he can fill his tank at all the fuel stations that he was having issues with!
